Once upon a time, nestled in the heart of the majestic Himalayas, two women dared to dream. They shared a vision that was as vast as the mountains that surrounded them. They dreamt of bees. Not just any bees, but the unique, local species of bees that buzzed around the vibrant forests of Nepal. These bees were a vital part of the ecosystem, but their numbers were dwindling. The women knew that something had to be done. And so, in 2019, they founded ‘The Himalayan Beekeepers’
We are the Himalayan Beekeepers. The dream was simple yet profound. They wanted to create a sanctuary, a haven for these precious pollinators. They envisioned a place where bees could thrive, free from the threats that were driving them towards extinction.
But their dream didn’t stop there. They wanted to revolutionize beekeeping in Nepal, to transform it from a struggling industry into a sustainable, thriving one. They knew that the local farming communities depended on these bees for their livelihoods, and they wanted to help.
We started small, with just a few hives and a lot of determination. We spent countless hours learning about beekeeping, studying the local species, and experimenting with different techniques. We faced many challenges along the way, but our passion and belief in our vision kept us going.
We share our knowledge and skills with local farmers, teaching them about sustainable beekeeping practices and the importance of bees in the ecosystem. We’ve seen the impact of our work in the smiles of the farmers when they harvest their first batch of honey, in the buzz of healthy, thriving bee colonies, and in the blossoming of plants and crops.
Our dream is to see a future where the Himalayan bees are no longer threatened where beekeeping is a sustainable and profitable industry, and where our local farming communities are thriving.
